I didn’t grow up here so this holiday doesn’t have the same meaning to me as, say, Christmas about which I can get quite, ahem, “enthusiastic”. Nevertheless, I love me some ritual, some gathering, and some excuse to eat pie (hot with ice-cream please, please do NOT give me any of your cold pie). But this year, more than any other, I feel increasingly uncomfortable swallowing the myth of it.
